Oil award for Bay fish bar
CRUSOE'S Fish Bar in Torquay is the first fish and chip shop in Devon to be a awarded the Frymax gold standard award for excellence in oil management.
The award is presented by Frymax to fryers who demonstrate they are taking care to keep their cooking oil in tip-top condition to maintain the quality, taste and appearance of the food.
The shops must also demonstrate they dispose of used oil in an environmentally friendly way.
Grant Robinson, of Crusoe's, said: "We are delighted to be the first fish and chip shop in Devon to be awarded the gold standard.
"The oil affects the quality of every item we cook so it's very important to have good clean oil to enhance the quality of the food we serve to our customers."
The shop, based in The Willows, Torquay, is also very selective with its other major ingredients.
All fish is sourced from well-managed sustainable fishing grounds.
Additionally, locally-sourced top-grade Maris Piper potatoes are used to provide customers with top quality fish and chips.
