Olympic torch event perfect time to sign up to loveLIFE
AFTER years of dreaming, the Olympics is finally here — and everybody can get involved this weekend by pledging to join the Herald Express loveLIFE campaign.
As the Olympic torch is proudly carried through the streets and lanes of South Devon, a special Torbay Council celebration event will take place on Torre Abbey Meadows on Sunday afternoon, May 20, as part of loveLIFE.
If you want to make a pledge and fulfil your own Olympic goal you will be able to pin your pledge on to the oak tree which has stood in the middle of Torre Abbey meadows for 450 years.
Special bunting to be draped around the oak is being made by Torbay Council recycling staff, and the pledges will be pinned on to the bunting throughout the day.

Catherine Williams, Torbay Council's sports officer, said: "People can write their Olympic dreams and loveLIFE pledges on the bunting. They can then join up to loveLIFE so they can do their own bit to get fitter during the Olympic year."
Everyone can play a part in the campaign aimed at encouraging people in South Devon to lead a fitter, healthier and happier life.
Whether you aim to lose a few pounds, walk a few more miles a week or take part in more dance classes, the loveLIFE campaign is for you.
The Herald Express has teamed up with major backers Torbay Care Trust, Torbay Council, Sanctuary Housing and Europlas in the year-long campaign. Also on board are DevonFresh and Sanctuary Care.
We are encouraging groups and individuals to contribute to our community targets to help reach a combined goal to:
Quit A MILLION cigarettes
Run, walk, pedal, swim or row A MILLION miles
Dance A MILLION steps
Lose 100,000lbs
