Paignton Green to get 100 years of protection
A covenant protecting a well-known seafront green from development for the next 100 years could be put in place by a Westcountry Mayor.
Torbay's directly elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, will decide whether to implement the covenant for Paignton Green, which would mean no development could take place over the next century without a referendum which secured the approval of the majority of residents.

The covenant would be designed to protect current uses of the space, and would retain the opportunity to erect a temporary structure for six months out of every 12.
