Paignton charity single launched on download chart
SOUTH Devon College students are looking for support as their single is launched into the download charts to raise funds for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
Christina Lloyd (pictured), 20 from Torquay, won a college competition with her track, Heroes' Land.
The college held a special event on Monday where the single was launched on college radio station VIBE FM by Christina herself, with staff and students encouraged to buy a copy of the single online for a worthy cause.
The college has a close affiliation with Help for Heroes — its public services programme has extensive links with the armed forces, including a current tutor Colin Kirkman, who recently returned from serving with the Royal Marines in Afghanistan.
The track is available to download online from now.
The music department is hoping to sell 25,000 copies this week to break into the top ten.

“When I was young students would campaign against conflict (haranguing and bullying in Afghanistan), these days they call them heroes. I would love to see a charity single for the thousands of civilians killed and maimed by the coalition or after more recent news, the sexually abused and urinated upon.”

“It sounds a good song, and a really worthwhile project. I hope it does really well.”
