FIREFIGHTERS from Paignton and Plymouth were sent to Paignton Harbour late last night after a van got stuck in the mud at the bottom of the slipway.

The alarm was raised at 11.50pm and two fire appliances from Paignton went to the harbour with the Special Rescue Team from Camels Head.

Coastguard officers asked for the firefighters to help rescue one man in a Transit van who had reversed off the harbour wall into the mud and became stuck.

The van had in fact reversed onto the edge of the slipway and was unable to drive forward.
