An options evening at Dartmouth Academy gave parent Governors Andora Glanvill and Jenny Hughes the opportunity to put teachers to the test – and they came up trumps.

On Monday January 28 Governors chairman Mary Shaw was joined by parent Governors Andora Glanvill and Jenny Hughes at the Academy Year 8 Options and Parents Evening.

The evening included an Options presentation in the Dart Centre by Principal Nick Hindmarsh followed by a Parents Evening in the Hall.

Both Jenny and Andora were pleased to get the chance to meet and chat to other parents, understand their ambitions for their children and the Academy, and to quiz teachers and management about their plans for the all through school.

Parent Governor Jenny said: “I attended this event as a Parent and a Governor and I found that it was a really good opportunity to meet up with other parents and to touch base with my child’s teachers and heads of department. I was also given a lot of useful advice about A levels and university options from the Careers Advisor, which will certainly help us with our decision making.”

Mrs Hughes said that she became a Parent Governor to support Dartmouth Academy as it builds on its early successes and looks to capitalise on its impending rebuild.

“Being a Parent Governor is a vital role and Andora and I are delighted to be working with the Academy at such an interesting time in its development.”
