Parking for £1 may return after bringing new visitors into town
THE park for a £1 promotion looks set to return to Torbay after attracting new shoppers.
The Herald Express joined forces with Torbay Council in a bid to attract more people back into our town centres.
-

The initiative meant people could park in the majority of Torbay Councils car parks for a whole day last weekend by paying for a £1 ticket and using it alongside a special voucher which was printed in the Herald Express last week,
And where as previous council parking promotions have generally attracted people who were heading into town anyway, the council says early findings show this time the promotion may have driven new customers into the shops.

"We are still waiting for the official statistics to come back but I've not had anything other than positive feedback from it," said Cllr Robert Excell, who leads the council's transport policies.
"People have embraced it and asked for us to do it again.
"We will be very pleased to work with local businesses and the Herald Express to encourage people into towns.
"I'd like to thank the Herald for all their hard work and it just goes to show that we can work together."

“Parking for £1 per day, EVERY day (not a promotion) has ALREADY returned for Torbay Councillors, hasn't it Councillor Robert Excell? WE poor mugs have to wait for YOU to give us an occasional promotion, whilst YOU get a huge discount on parking all year. Is that fair or reasonable Councillor Excell??”

“Remember kids, its ok to rip people off 99% of the time so long as you give something back 1% of the time.”
