Plainmoor's pitch on schedule as long as sunshine returns!
WHILE the rain might have dampened the Diamond Jubilee celebrations over the last weekend, it certainly didn't dampen the mood of Torquay United's head groundsman Scott Duff as the new Plainmoor pitch has started to show signs of life.
The £10,000 re-seeding is now in its second week of development and with the constant sunshine the week before, followed by showers over the weekend, Duff is happy with the progress.

"It's coming along nicely. The new seedlings have grown fairly quickly and the indifferent weather has helped no end. You can't beat a good bit of rain," he said.
But for Duff, a good amount of consistent sunshine is what he hopes the forecasters will be predicting for the rest of the season.

"The initial watering has been good. But to get the seeds to spark into life we need many days of sun," he said.
"So if it could be sunny for the rest of the summer that would be great."
