Plant a Diamond Jubilee tree in Dartmouth
SOUTH Hams District Council is offering people the chance to sponsor a tree to form a new avenue on the approach to Dartmouth to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.
If support is forthcoming, trees will be planted from November onwards, as part of the town’s commemorations.
For £150 people can sponsor a tree and be part of an historic project.
The charge for each tree includes planting costs, stakes, compost, ties and your name on a commemorative plaque.

Cllr Hilary Bastone, Ward Member for Dartmouth and Kingswear, said: “The whole of 2012 is officially a Diamond Jubilee year, so it’s not too late to get involved. This project offers people the chance to contribute towards a lasting memorial for future generations and perhaps remember someone from their own family too.”
He added: “Dartmouth has proud connections with the royal family and I hope more people will come forward to sponsor a Jubilee tree. It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Anyone interested in sponsoring a tree should call Cat Freston on 01803 861175.
