BRIXHAM youngsters will have the chance to test out new play equipment at Furzeham Green today.

Children from Furzeham Primary School were joining the Friends of Furzeham Green, five years after the group was formed, for the official launch of the new improved and expanded playground.

Today's launch was due to be attended by representatives of the funding body, Big Lottery Community Spaces, Groundwork UK and main contractors, Kompan.

Brixham policeman Sgt Dave Casley will be there with a supply of his new Cop Cards.

Friends chairman David Lilley said: "For a few weeks now, local children have already been enthusiastically using the new equipment.

"For toddlers there are springers, cradle swings and a seesaw, while parents at last have some benches to sit on."

The new play equipment completes the overall improvement plan put in place by the Friends when they originally formed.
