TEIGNMOUTH Players are presenting A Doll's House, the classic play by Henrik Ibsen which is considered by many as his masterpiece.

The production presents a challenge to the players, which has been taken up by the director, Freda Welton and her cast.

A spokesman said: "A Doll's House was written in prose, not verse, and became a landmark for this genre in the theatre.

"The play tells the story of Nora, played by Elaine Harvey — the beautiful but fragile wife of Tolvald, played by Paul Loveness, who fraudulently obtains money for her husband.

"The threat of exposure by Krogstad, played by Jon Miles, the creditor, leads to a number of complications and, to find out how matters are resolved, one must come to the Carlton and find out."

Other members of the cast include Janet Crowther (Kristine), Jessica Miles (Helaine), Kevin Brooker (Dr Rank) and the young ones, played by Nathan Mallett, Ben Lee, Hermione Sylby and Shannon Pook.

The play is set in Norway and the design is by Jane Branch.

The spokesman added: "It all makes for an intriguing piece of theatre not to be missed."

The production runs from February 21 to 25. For the box office and more information, log on to www.carlton theatre.co.uk
