POLICE are hunting a man suspected of stealing petty cash from shops and bars.

He first struck at the South Devon Railway in Buckfastleigh on August 24 when he distracted staff and stole a charity box from the counter.

The following day the same man was in Preston Conservative club at 3.05pm.

When staff were away from the bar, he went behind it and took an envelope containing £300.

The man had been staying at a nearby guest house but had left without paying his bill.

It is likely he had been travelling throughout the South West committing these sort of offences, police say.

Police have issued pictures of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incidents.

If anyone has any knowledge of other offences he may have committed or if they can identify this man, they should call 101 and quote the crime reference numbers, JA/12/699 and FP/12/2817.
