DETECTIVES hunting two masked raiders who fled empty-handed after a bungled robbery attack on Thomas Cook's travel agency in Torquay are anxious to trace their distinctive getaway car.

The red Ford Fiesta — about 13 years-old and possibly a P-reg — was seen in the area shortly after the failed raid on the Union Street premises at 8.50am on Monday.

Det Sgt Chris Yarwood, of Torquay CID, says the vehicle features silver, non-standard, replacement wheel trims.

"This car could well be local. If anyone knows of such a car we would like to hear from them," he said.

Staff who were bundled into a back office by the raiders wearing motorcycle helmets were unharmed, but left in shock after the drama.

Anyone with information should ring police on 08452 777444, quoting FT/10/1593.
