POLICE in Totnes have launched this year’s edition of the popular ‘what's on' guide for the youth of the town.

It lists more than 100 activities for young people to get involved in, including first aid, fencing, football, fishing, dance, cadets and many more. It also includes money saving vouchers for selected clubs.

The printing of the guide was paid for with funds from the Proceeds of Crime Act and contributions from sponsors including Crimebeat, Totnes chamber of commerce, Canoe adventure, Rotary club of Totnes and Councillor Vint from South Hams District Council.

“Our aim is to encourage as many young people as possible to get involved in a pastime so that less youths are on the streets after school” said PCSO Shaun Barker, the man behind the idea.

“What a great idea! I was brought up in Totnes as a teenager and my friends and I always had nothing to do there, we would spend all our time hanging around the town doing nothing. It's nice to know that time and effort has gone into this and that the young people of Totnes now feel listened to and have some interests that they could take part in.”
