Police seek camper van after biker injured in Chudleigh crash

POLICE are appealing for information after a camper van drove away from the scene of a crash at Chudleigh yesterday in which a motorcyclist was seriously hurt.

The accident happened just before 1pm yesterday on the Plymouth-bound carriageway of the A38 near Chudleigh.

Police said a black Honda motorcycle collided with the rear of a camper van, causing serious injuries to the rider.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.

The police spokesman said the camper van did not stop at the scene and will have extensive damage to the rear.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this and in particular the driver of the camper van to telephone police on 101 and quote log 389 of 200512

    “Another accident on that stretch of the A38 - doesn't say where but I'll wager it was something to do with a slip road. I think they should put up signs saying 'Beware of hidden slip roads' all over this part of Devon. One takes one's life in one's hands half the time. Yes, I know there are signs indicating turn-offs etc but the full implication of these doesn't always sink in until it's too late. I do think Devon is worse than other parts of the country for slip roads just round bends.”
