Pool to pool ride for Shoalstone funds

THE Shoalstone Pool committee are to take the plight of the outdoor pool to Plymouth as part of a fundraising bike ride.

Mark Portwood, the chairman of the Friends of Shoalstone Pool group, Jenny Harriman , the vice chairman, John King and Ben Meagor will cycle from Brixham to Tinside pool in Plymouth in the hope of raising £1,000 for the sea water pool.

The Friends of Shoalstone Pool hope to raise as much as possible from the sponsored cycle ride.

John and Ben work at Brewers on New Road, Brixham and volunteered to help after Jenny accompanied John on his own 20-mile charity run for Rowcroft Hospice last April.

This time John will be cycling 40-miles to Plymouth Hoe.

Jenny said: "I have written to Tom Daley to ask if he would meet us at Tinside if he is in Plymouth.

"This outdoor pool is where I learned to swim as a child and Tom has also used it."

The team will do the cycle ride on September 23.
