Prestigious awards pile praise on Torbay health services
HEALTH services in South Devon have been praised in prestigious health service awards.
Community services across South Devon have been 'highly commended' in the provider trust of the year category at the Health Service Journal Awards.
And Torbay Hospital has been recognised for its leadership and for a new patient care initiative.
Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs community health services and adult social care services, was one of six trusts to be shortlisted within the category.

The trust was shortlisted for two awards at this year's ceremony with the second shortlist being for the improved partnerships between health and local government award.
The shortlisting in this category was based on work that has taken place to support carers throughout Torbay.
Frontline staff and managers from Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust attended the award ceremony to hear the outcome of the two awards.
Mandy Seymour, chief executive of Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust, said: "As an organisation we have always prided ourselves on ensuring that our clients are at the very heart of what we do and receiving national recognition such as this is something that our clients as well our staff can be extremely proud of.

Paula Vasco-Knight, chief executive of Torbay Hospital, was also 'highly commended' in the chief executive of the year category.
Also receiving recognition was the trust's outpatient and home antibiotic therapy and anticoagulation initiative, which was a finalist in the acute and primary care innovation category.
