Procession of colour
A LIFE-SIZE Dalek, Cybermen and K9 were the stars of Brixham Christmas Parade as hundreds of people flocked to the waterfront and town centre for the colourful procession.
Every fantasy, circus and historical character popped up somewhere in the procession including Victorians, Vikings, pirates, a ringmaster and animals, the good ship Lollipop and the cowtown carnival mayor.
Thanks to some stirring sounds from Okehampton Silver Band, the Teign Valley Stompers and Aspects samba band, no-one was destined for a quiet night.
Traditional nativity figures, including a pint-sized king from the Orient, reinforced the Christmas story as the parade marched twice round the town centre.
Mary Thompson, founder of the Pride in Brixham volunteer group which set up the event, said: "Everyone had a really good time.
"The weather was kind and the youngsters had a fantastic party afterwards in the Baptist Hall and a visit to Santa's grotto."
Visiting queens from Torbay, Totnes and Harbertonford brightened up the show but it's not a competitive event, Mrs Thompson added, just a welcome bit of community entertainment with a strong fun element.

Street performers, a children's roundabout at the Old Fish Market and hot refreshments during the day kept Christmas shoppers entertained until the Saturday procession kicked off at 4.30pm.
She added: Everyone was very impressed with the town's new independent lights, especially the Fore Street and New Pier display as well as the twin trees on opposite sides of the inner harbour.
"We must thank Torbay and Brixham councils, Torbay Carnival committee and all the voluntary groups who helped."
Late-night shopping with entertainment also takes place on December 11 and 18.
