Promotion form a little too late for Teignmouth
IF only Teignmouth could turn the clock back to September and start all over again, they could be pushing for a second successive promotion.
The Teigns have now won seven games on the bounce in the Cornwall & Devon Division after Saturday's 33-10 defeat of Torrington, which is promotion form in anyone's language.
Sadly, they are paying the penalty for losing four of their first five games, and giving up two points by accident for fielding an unregistered player.
Torrington are no great shakes this season and were deconstructed in a clinical manner by the Teigns, who were 19-3 up at the break and scored two more tries in the second half.
"We were competitive at the breakdowns, and rucked well, which gave us quick ball," said player-manager Colin Aldworth. "Our backline was a lot sharper than theirs, and it showed in the way we scored most of our tries.
"Chris Tidman scored another hat-trick of tries, in typically bulldozing style.
"Will Sowden scored his try when got the ball on halfway and left their defence for dead."
Lewis Beare was Teignmouth's other try scorer. Dan Force converted four out of five tries.
