Protesters vow to fight on as Buckfastleigh quarry recycling plan goes to appeal
PROTESTERS have vowed to fight on after a company revealed it is to appeal against a decision to reject plans for a recycling and processing plant at a South Devon quarry site.
MVV Environment Devonport has decided to lodge the appeal against Devon County Council's refusal for the plant at Whitecleave Quarry in Buckfastleigh.
Simon Rines, of Buckfastleigh Community Forum, which has campaigned against the proposals, said: "We feel angry that they are ignoring the community's wishes, the county council and the results of the parish poll.
"We won't be going away and will continue to fight on."

Julia Wilton, co-chairman of the forum, said: "Since the announcement of the appeal was made we have already had pledges of several thousand pounds for a legal fighting fund.
"We have spoken with our lawyer and we are clear about the next steps our community needs and that includes a judicial review if necessary."
The original planning application by MVV included plans for facilities to process bottom ash from the waste plant currently being built in Plymouth and for a materials recycling facility to process construction and demolition waste.
MVV has said the new development proposals are in line with the Devon Waste Plan and meet the policies in the new National Planning Policy Framework.
Paul Carey, managing director of MVV Environment Devonport Limited, said: "We have considered our options during the past five months and remain convinced that the Whitecleave Quarry site is the best available. Our lawyers have been in contact with Devon County Council to seek clarification of the reasons for refusal prior to making the formal appeal."
