JACK the parrot is hoping his choices will turn out to be a big hit.

The feathered fixer was tasked with choosing what entertainment a Torquay harbourside pub should hold on a Wednesday night.

Jack chose a jam night, and now the pub is on the lookout for local musicians to do their stuff.

Lee Griffin, promotions manager at the Apple and Parrot pub, said Jack is a little like the World Cup octopus Paul, who chose winners match by match during the tournament in South Africa.

Lee said: "Jack was given a pot full of ideas such as a karaoke night and the jam night.

"Jack picked the jam night so we have decided to do that."

He said the customers think it is a fun idea that the resident feathered friend picked the night.

"If we ever can't think of anything in the future we will let the parrot do our decision making for us," said Lee.
