Pupils come up with idea for healthy tuck shop
PUPILS at a South Devon primary school have introduced a healthy tuck shop which is supported by a local business.
The idea was just one of a number of new initiatives generated by the children at St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Buckfast this year.

The tuck shop was suggested by members of the school council, who were elected by the children to represent their peers and put forward ways of making the school better.
The shop is run by the school councillors and co-ordinated by teaching assistants Kath Bradford and Ollie Barnes.

It was originally going to open once a week, but due to its popularity it opens twice a week, and it was soon making a profit.
The school council approached Riverford Organic Farm, at nearby Staverton, to see if it would like to get involved.
Representatives from the business visited St Mary's to discuss the project with the school councillors and tell them about some of the organic food principles upon which the business is based.
Riverford now supplies the shop with a delivery of fresh, seasonal fruit each week.
Head teacher Nicola Slack added: "The school councillors have been invited to the farm later in the year to see how the food is grown and packed ready for distribution.
"The school is also looking forward to being able to offer parents Riverford vegetable boxes at a competitive rate, and later this term Riverford will help pupils grow and produce their own organic vegetables in school."
