TEIGNMOUTH band The Quails (pictured) prepared for their big gig at the Riviera Centre in Torquay with a warm-up at Westlands.

The school's students provided an enthusiastic audience as the band went through an hour-long set showcasing songs from their new album, Master of Imperfection, as well as older material.

On Saturday, May 8 the band will be headlining a four-act showcase at the Riviera Centre, supported by Two Spot Gobi, Red Track and The Iconyx.

Tickets are selling well for the gig, and are available from the Riviera Centre, Treds in Torquay, Teign Music in Teignmouth and online from www.thequails.co.uk

It has also been confirmed that the band will play this year's Glastonbury Festival.

Meanwhile, the band has confirmed that 'Fever' will be the second single to be taken from the album.

It will be released in July, and a video has already been shot.

The first single, 'Argentina', is doing well online, where it is available for pre-order ahead of its official release next week.

The Quails were following in illustrious footsteps with their Westlands appearance. Some years ago the school hosted a low-key gig for a then-unknown singer called Peter Andre.
