The five-mile course took runners from Churston Ferrers Grammar School out through the lanes to Brixham and back.

The event hosted the Ross Shield team competition for Devon athletic clubs, one of the oldest events of its type in the country.

Torbay AC's dominance was such that they took the Ross Shield and scooped the women's team prize as well.

From the start a Torbay trio of Pete Monaghan, Lee Turner and Aaron Tocknell broke away, and by the time they were at the furthest point of the course in Brixham the order was set.

Monaghan crossed the line back at the school comfortably ahead of Turner, who had a similar gap to Tocknell in third.
