TORQUAY'S clubland will celebrate one of its biggest nights of the year this month when Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills (pictured) appears at Bohemia.

The popular presenter has confirmed a booking at the nightclub in Torwood Street on Friday, March 26.

It has been organised as a Pride Torbay fundraiser, the gay festival which takes place in the summer.

It will take place on a night regularly set aside for the Bay's gay community but the organisers are keen to stress it is open to all music lovers.

Mike McGowan, Bohemia's promotions manager, said: "As far as I know this is the first time Scott Mills has appeared in Torbay.

"It is great news for the town's music scene and will probably be our biggest night of the year.

"We have been doing a gay night every couple of months for the past two years and when I asked people who they would like to see the name Scott Mills kept coming back."

Mike has previously arranged for other big name DJs, including Trevor Nelson, to appear at Bohemia.

He expects the club to reach its capacity, with more than 700 people inside.

A spokesman for Radio 1 said its star DJs are in high demand at clubs and it is common for them to work for other organisations providing no BBC rules are broken.

Doors open at 10pm and will stay open till late. There is no need to buy tickets for the event. Entry costs £5 before midnight and £6 after.
