IT'S been a long time coming, but Buckfastleigh finally won their first match of the season when they defeated St Columba & Torpoint 14-7.

A brace of tries from centre Greg Robinson – one in each half – plus conversions from fly-half Steve Chapple did the trick after the sides had been deadlocked at seven each at the turn.

St Columba scored their points through a Luke Richards-converted try from prop Mike Grieve.

Player and chairman Steve Leibrick was understandably chuffed to end the long wait for a win.

"There have been a few near misses this season and you start to wonder if you won't win at all," said Leibrick.

"At last it all came together from 1-15 and we managed to get in front and stay there.

"It's fair to say having waited all season to win game, one or two of the lads got a bit carried away afterwards."

TOPSHAM scored six tries as they turned a 22-8 half-time lead into a comfortable 43-22 win at Dartmouth.

Former Abertilary and Navy hooker Colin Milkins crossed twice whilst there were singles for Tim Taylor, Adam Buckley, Dave Moran and Richard Williams. Fly-half Jack Knowles took care of the kicking duties.

John Dingle, Rob Murray and Martin Sharham scored tries for Dartmouth. Aaron Hunt kicked two conversions and a penalty.
