Rape probe: Taxi driver 'may have vital information'
A RAPE investigation has been launched after an allegation by a 21-year-old woman.
The woman had been on a Friday night out at Torquay harbourside and took a taxi back to a house in Kingsteignton where the alleged sexual assault took place.
Now police are urgently trying to trace the taxi driver who took the girl and two young men to an address in Hele Road, Kingsteignton, where the alleged assault took place.
A police spokesman said: "The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday, June 9. Investigating officers urgently need to identify a taxi driver who picked up a fare from the harbourside taxi rank in Torquay between the hours of 2am and 4am, as he may have vital information that will assist the enquiry.

"The fare included two men and a woman who were taken to Hele Road in Kingsteignton and the fare was approximately £15.
"One of the men and the woman got into the rear of the taxi and the second man got into the front passenger seat."
The two men have subsequently been interviewed by police.
Officers ask that the taxi driver contacts them as soon as possible on 101 quoting police reference JN/12/1558.
