Referees to make call on today's SW Peninsula League fixtures
Carlsberg South West Peninsula League secretary Philip Hiscox has not invoked the severe weather regulation for this weekend's programme which means clubs, and an official referee, will have to make inspections today.
Hiscox, in view of the torrential and incessant rain, invoked the rule that allowed clubs to call their games off in advance for the last two full programmes, but he issued the following statement on the Peninsula's official website.
"With a 'better' forecast of showers and bright spells ahead, I am giving due notice that I do not intend invoking any lessening of the standard postponement rules this Saturday.
"I do appreciate that some clubs will still be very wet and may not be able to play. They may of course still postpone games but that postponement can only be authorised by the match referee, or local referee if the appointed referee is not near to the ground, on the actual day of the match."

That also applied to today's scheduled Throgmorton Cup third-round tie at The Mill between Torpoint Athletic and holders Bodmin Town.
It had not been possible to arrange this tie due to the second-round tie between Ivybridge and Bodmin being delayed three times before being switched to Bodmin, where the holders won 4-1.
The recent postponements have hit Torpoint as it has not allowed them to get games in for Josh Grant and Dan Johns and both will be ineligible for the tie. The Torpoint faithful will be aware that they have a very difficult task against the cup holders who have beaten them 4-0 at The Mill and 5-1 at Priory Park in the league.
The game will have extra time and penalties available should they be required to ensure a result on the day. If played, that will leave just one tie to be played to complete the line-up for the last eight with Camelford due to entertain Stoke Gabriel on January 5.
Bodmin's cup activity gives Plymouth Parkway the chance to close the gap on the leaders to one point if their game at Mill Marsh Park goes ahead.
Bovey Tracey go into the game on the back of three heavy defeats, having lost 5-1 at home to Tavistock before trips to Witheridge and Liverton resulted in 6-1 and 6-0 defeats.
Liverton will be hoping to build on their Boxing Day result when they travel to Saltash United, while third-placed Elburton Villa host Newquay and fourth-placed Tavistock travel to Ivybridge.
The other three Premier games see Camelford, Penzance and St Blazey at home to Falmouth Town, St Austell and Liskeard Athletic respectively.
