THESE REIGNING DAYS Spinning Wheel, Paignton

★★★★

THERE was plenty to celebrate for Torbay three-piece These Reigning Days when they took to the stage at the Spinny.

The video for new single Changes has racked up thousands of views online and has just been put on the playlist by both the Q and Kerrang video channels, and the band have just secured an invitation to play live on Radio One with Jo Whiley.

So there was an atmosphere of relaxed celebration about the gig in front of a familiar audience.

Dan Steer, Jonny Finnis and Joe Sansome are a compelling combination, and even in the quieter surroundings of a rare pub gig they managed some spectacular moments.

Changes is a stunning song, and stands up well when performed live.

There were even some well-chosen covers dotted among the originals.

TRD still sound fresh and new despite their months of rehearsals and gigs.

Now they are the latest local act to stand on the verge of very big things.

Hopefully, 2012 will see them moving onwards and upwards.
