Relocation for picnic, but no to dog show
A GAY pride picnic and gay dog show scheduled to take place at Cockington have had to be relocated and postponed because of licensing issues 'beyond the organisers' control'.
The Cockington Rainbow Proms event which is part of this weekend's Pride Torbay will now be moved to a more central and convenient location.
The event will take place in the gardens of the Grosvenor Hotel on Belgrave Road on Saturday September 8 from 12pm until 6pm.
A Pride Torbay spokesman said: "We were really looking forward to having the event at Cockington, as it is such a beautiful location.

"It is really important to hold pride events in public places and involve the local community as much as possible, so this is obviously disappointing.
"However once we were over the bad news, we realised that a more central location will be more convenient for everyone.
"The event is completely open to anyone with a positive attitude, so come and enjoy a great afternoon of live music from some very local talented musicians.
"Please invite your family and friends and thanks for your understanding. Let's make this the best Pride Torbay yet."
The event will remain free and people are welcome to bring their own picnics, although a range of garden party-style food will be served. This will include sandwiches, strawberries and cream and barbecue food.
The outside bar will also be serving drinks including jugs of Pimms.
There will still be stalls and a main stage featuring acts programmed by South Devon College and Future Media.
There will also be games and some colourful and fun surprises.
Hosts on the day will include Tray La Trash, the only act to appear at every single Pride, and some talented young musicians.
The spokesman added: "The Pride Idol competition will still be taking place, although sadly the gay dog show won't be feasible."
The Rainbow Proms Garden Party at The Grosvenor is one of a dozen events taking place across the weekend, including the official Pride Torbay opening boat trip on Friday evening, amazing nightly cabaret at the Meadfoot Inn, a weekend of events at The Grosvenor, two big club nights at Candyfloss and Sunday night closing events at the Cliff House Hotel, Meadfoot, and then Tiffany's.
