Residents rescued from flooded homes in South Devon
Heavy rain overnight has caused widespread flooding across Devon, causing misery for home and business owners just before Christmas.
The Fire Service said since 2.30am it has received over 130 calls and responded to incidents at locations including Yealmpton, Holbeton, Kingsbridge and the Modbury area.

A woman was rescued from her home in Church Street, Kingsbridge, at 3.40am and a number of people had to be moved from homes in Averton Gifford.
Crews assisted home owners for flooding inside their properties ranging from 5 inches to 3 foot.

Surface water is causing hazardous conditions on roads across the county, with drivers being urged not to drive into flood water as you cannot gauge what is underneath.
Rail services between Exeter St Davids and Barnstaple are suspended in both directions, with no replacement road transport available, according to First Great Western.
They said trains are unable to operate between Taunton and Plymouth and therefore, services from Penzance, Plymouth, Exeter St Davids towards Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington will terminate at Plymouth and start from Taunton until further notice.
Services from London Paddington towards Exeter St Davids and the West of England will terminate at Taunton and be started again from Plymouth until further notice.
A spokesman said: "A very limited road transport operation is currently in place between Taunton, Exeter St Davids and Plymouth, this is being hampered by flooded roads and only a limited number of vehicles being available."
