Runners looking sharp in Coasters' Obelisk event
DAVE TOMLIN was first back for Teignbridge Trotters in the Oh my Obelisk race organised by Dawlish Coasters.
The weather was dry but bitterly cold and windy, although the 239 runners didn't seem to notice too much.

SECOND THE BEST: Torbay AC's Jon Parkinson finished second in the Oh my Obelisk race in Dawlish
Tomlin led the Trotters in with fifth overall in a time of 1.11.55.
Next came Adam Caunter, who just seems to keep on improving in 1.16.08 and 10th.
Nick Stevens arrived next and raced across the line in 1.18.19 and 14th clinching the men's team prize along with David and Adam.
Lance Mason suffering with an on-going injury did well to get 16th place in 1.18.34 for first V50 male!
Ewan Walton appeared next and looking in fine form in 20th in 1.19.52.
Steve Barker was 26th in 1.21.39 and Gary Clark 42nd in 1.24.12.
Ian Langler was 57th in 1.27.16 and was being chased down by newer member Travis Wood in 1.27.25 and 58th.
Roger Hayes was 62nd in 1.27.48 and John Tweedie had a cracking comeback race after injury. He was 64th in 1.28.00.
Wilf Taylor was 82nd in 1.31.30 and Mark Becker, back on the scene after a long absence, competed in 1.32.12.
Helen Anthony was the first lady Trotter home in 1.32.29 for 88th with Carrie-Anne Hewings who battled well to do 1.35.33 and 105th.
Other finishers were Chris Wride 1.37.12,Gary Caunter 1.38.05, Roger Hales 1.38.37, Peter Royle 1.41.19, Noel Fowler 1.43.48, Anna Caunter 1.45.02, Joanne Haynes 1.47.04, Mark Wotton 1.48.22, Sue Fewings 1.48.26, Guy Roberts 1.50.07, Katrina Duignan in 1.50.51, Jim Donovan 1.51.01, Caroline Clark 1.52.19, Joanne Becker 1.56.52, Chris Dudwell 1.59.10 and Eleanor Taylor 1.59.21. The race winner was Mike Robinson from Tamar Trotters in 1.08.54. Second home was Torbay AC's Jon Parkinson (1.09.37) with Mike Feighan (Exeter Harriers) third in 1.09.41.
Torbay's Wendy Urban was first V40 lady and 41s overall in 1.24.10.
No other Torbay runners finished in the top 100. The others to get around were Rob Court (114), Mike Davies (123), Ray Brown (176), Neil Fisher (209) and Sally Davies (225).
South Devon AC had five runners in the top 50. They were Colin Peters (13th), Robert Leeke (24th), Jeremy Hocking (30th), Neil Downer (38th) and Simon Johnson (40th).
SOUTH Devon AC's 2011 Grand Prix champion Colin Peters started the new season with another win in the Oh My Obelisk race on Sunday.
The Dawlish Coasters event attracted a good entry of SDAC runners for what was the first event in the club's 2012 Grand Prix series.
Peters led his clubmates home, finishing 13th overall in 1h 17m 33s over the tough off-road course.
Rival Rob Leeke was the next SDAC runner across the line, finishing 25th in 1h 20m 52s. He was followed in by Jeremy Hocking (30th in 1h 21m 54s); Neil Downer (38th in 1h 23m 44s); Simon Johnson (40th in 1h 23m 57s) and Vince Langdon (1h 26m 22s).
Naomi Flanagan, runner-up in the ladies' section of the 2011 Grand Prix series at SDAC, started the new season with a win.
She was the first of the club's ladies home, finishing 100th overall in 1h 34m 58s.
Other SDAC finishers were Mark Stockman (107th in 1h 35m 44s); Steve Hookins (117th in 1h 37m 44s); John Drennan (134th in 1h 40m 53s); Roger Webb (142nd in 1h 41m 37s); Marc Jones (157th in 1h 44m 27s); Sue Hayes (168th in 1h 46m 24s) and Lisa Jefferey (216th in 1h 58m 09s).
TORBAY AC sent four runners to the Brooks Western League Cross Country at Westward Ho!
Bideford AAC hosted the race on a course at the Burrows.
Torbay AC results in the senior men's race were: Russell Cleve 30.43 (20th), Martyn Breslan 32.41 (36th), Dennis Doy 46.14 (90th ), Eric Barber 61.33 (92nd).
TEIGNBRIDGE Trotters had two runners in the event – John and Julie Crocker.
Julie ran the 5,000-metre course to finish (43rd) and John was 63rd over the 8,400-metre men's course.
HALDON Trail Runners had a brilliant run at the Oh my Obelisk race on Sunday. First home and in a course personal best was Nathan White in 1.23.55.
Next to finish was Martin McEneny in another PB of 1.27.41 with Charlotte Weedon almost catching him to finish in 1.27.49.
Paul Clarke ran a strong race to finish in 1.29.49 with Nigel Veitch next in 1.35.22 and Anthea Whitaker in 1.36.04.
