Strychnine Ballroom is a brand new vintage ball combining classic style with modern fun. Held in the Spanish Barn, this party with a difference will transport Christie fans back in time to enjoy the swinging sounds of the big bands, snazzy jazz classics and the wonderful songs that lifted the spirits in difficult times.
It takes place on Saturday, September 15, at 8pm.
Murder on the Nile will be on at the Princess Theatre throughout the Agatha Christie Festival.
The show stars Denis Lill (The Royal, Doctor Who), Susie Amy (71 Degrees North, Footballers’ Wives), Chloe Newsome (Coronation Street), Ben Nealon (Soldier, Soldier) and 1960s pop idol Mark Wynter.
An Agatha Christie Service at All Saints Church, the site of her baptism, will take place on Sunday, September 16, at 6pm.
TORQUAY is to have its own regular outdoor monthly market.
The farmers’ market will take place every month in front of Torquay Town Hall.
The first will start on Saturday from 9am.
Organiser Leonie Rees said: “After the success of Brixham farmers’ market last month, the council have agreed to start a local market selling delicious local products in Torquay."
Stalls already booked in include Chocolate Heaven Made In Devon, Sweet Memory Lane with their artisan breads, Cheezeboard with local cheeses, In A Pickle and Cockleshell Deli with a selection of fresh seafood.

CORY and Yann, the Seznec Brothers, are at the Blue Walnut in Chelston on Friday night. Cory lives in France. Yann lives in Scotland, and they have played music together for about 20 years. Their influences and musical interests are vast, ranging from Appalachian banjo music to 20th century electro-acoustic composition by way of 1960s West African pop and interactive sound art. THE One World Cafe in Abbey Park, Torquay, hosts an alternative 1980s night with The Lost Boys and DJs from 7pm on Friday, then Hayden Davies from Platos Cave plus DJs from 7pm on Saturday.
WHOLE Lotta Led, considered by many to be one of the greatest tributes to Led Zeppelin around, play at the Palace Theatre, Paignton, on Saturday. Generally playing two-and-a-half hour sets and more than 100 concerts a year, they keep the spirit and songs of Led Zep alive.
THE Upbeat Beatles bring their Long and Winding Road Tour to the Brixham Theatre tomorrow night.
