SOMERSET'S GOLF DAY AT DAINTON
FANCY a round of golf with a first class cricketer? You can have one at a charity fund-raiser taking place at Dainton Park next month.
Instead of a player having a benefit season this year, Somerset's fund-raising efforts are being channelled into the Children's Hospice South West's 'precious lives' appeal. One of the first events for the charity is a golf day at Dainton on Wednesday, April 7.
The format is an 18-hole stableford competition for which entries are now being accepted.
These entries can either be in teams of four, or teams may enter with three people and the foursome will be made up with a Somerset professional.
All the first team squad - including England starts past and present Marcus Trescothick, Craig Kieswetter and Peter Trego - are expected to play.
The day begins with coffee and a bacon roll on arrival, followed by the round of golf. At the conclusion a two-course carvery meal will be served in the restaurant, followed by a charity raffle and auction.
There are various prizes on offer for the golf competition, including some individual hole prizes as well as good prizes for the overall winners.
Entries are £150 per team and a number have already been received. Spaces are still available. To obtain an entry form, or for any further details, contact Somerset CCC appeal year secretary Eric Cole (01626 334965) or tournament organiser Charles Emery (01626 865369).
