Salcombe RNLI called out to help Brixham fishing boat
Salcombe RNLI's volunteer crew were called out on Friday evening to assist a fishing boat taking on water, 30 miles South of Salcombe harbour.
As the rest of Salcombe were enjoying a Friday evening, Salcombe RNLI's lifeboat crew responded to their pagers alerting them to the launch of the station's all-weather lifeboat, The Baltic Exchange III.

The lifeboat was launched to assist the 250 tonne Brixham based fishing vessel Danielle, a 30m beam trawler whose stern tube had split. Coastguard Rescue helicopter 106 from Portland was also tasked.
Rescue helicopter 106 arrived on scene first and placed a winch man and a salvage pump on board before having to return to Portland to refuel. With the helicopter pump maintaining the level of water ingress, a decision was made to head towards the fishing boat's home port of Brixham, with the Salcombe lifeboat escorting and with its salvage pump at the ready if required.
