Salcombe hotel lines up a big banger treat

FOOD lovers are in for a real treat at The South Sands Hotel in Salcombe, which has teamed up with Devon’s leading sausage experts, Andrew James Butchery, to add three new sausage dishes to its menu, including a 20oz Catherine Wheel-style pork sausage.

The showstopper sausage will be served with gratin potato, roasted red onions, cider gravy and pickled red cabbage and is made using a bespoke recipe created for South Sands’ Beachside Restaurant.

The result of a new collaboration between award-winning head chef, Stuart Downie, and the local sausage specialists, diners can also tuck in to Andrew James’ Fennel Sausage served with Spiced Lentils and Truffle Vinaigrette or a 10oz Pork, Thyme and Apple Sausage accompanied by a tangle of greens, mushroom salsa and an apple aioli.

Established in Exeter in 1962, Andrew James Butchery hails from a third generation family-run business based in Cullompton. Expertly creating sausages using authentic recipes, butchers at Andrew James supply sausages with only the finest ingredients. All meat is sourced and can be traced back to Farm Assured UK farms.

Director and Master Butcher, Steve Turton, says: "We are delighted to be working with Stuart and give the people of Devon a dish that’s completely unique.”
