School cafe opens thanks to diocese
THE NEWEST cafe in Collaton St Mary has opened its doors thanks to the diocese.
Youngsters at Collaton St Mary C of E primary school can now dine at their very own cafe called Growing Minds.

The dining hall, complete with newly-refurbished kitchen, is transformed every lunchtime with table cloths and flowers for the youngsters' home-grown dinners.
The school uses fruit and vegetables grown in its own garden with other produce all coming from local businesses.

The school, which has a gold award with the Food for Life partnership, launched the cafe with VIP guests including cookery writer and food policy advisor Jeanette Orrey.
She was the inspiration for Jamie Oliver's School Dinners campaign and now promotes good food for schools with the Food For Life Partnership.
Jeanette said: "It is fantastic that the diocese have invested in the kichen and recognise how important it is.
"It means that they are investing in the children's health and their future which is phenomenal."
The school kitchen is run by catering manager Sam Ward.
Since she started creating menus at the school and teaching youngsters about the food they eat, school lunches have reached 120 a day.
She ventures out of the kitchen into the classrooms to talk to the children about where their food comes from and the importance of a healthy balanced diet. The school also has cooking and gardening clubs with each class looking after their own plot.
