THE search starts today to find South Devon's bonniest baby and cutest toddler.

The Herald Express is launching its Baby and Toddler of the Year 2010 and inside is a token allowing proud parents to take their little one for a photo session in the area.

All you have to do is cut out the token and take it along to one of the sessions which take place on four dates in Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot over the next two weeks.

A photographer will be on hand to take a free snap of the tot. You will then be given a date by the photographer to return and choose which photograph will appear in the competition.

The Herald Express will then print every chosen photograph in a full colour special on Tuesday, April 27.

There are four categories: 0-9 months; 10-18 months; 19-36 months and three to five years.

The photography sessions will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday March 22, 23 and 24 at Sainsbury's, The Willows, Torquay, between 9.30am and 5pm (with a break for lunch).

On Thursday, March 25 it will be at Union Square, Torquay, between 10am and 4.30pm.

On Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27 there will be sessions at Morrisons, Paignton, between 10am and 4.30pm and at Tesco, Newton Abbot, on Monday and Tuesday, March 29 and 30, between 10am and 4.30pm.

To enter Baby and Toddler of the Year 2010 could not be easier. Simply cut out the token and take it along to any one of the sessions.

The winner will receive £200 and the Baby and Toddler of the Year trophy. The category winners will each take home £100.

by Emma - mum of the most beautiful baby in the bay, Torbay

“Ann, I totally agree, unfortunately it isn't always the most beautiful baby who wins, more like which pushy parent buys the most papers to get the coupons, then gets their mates to do it, and then their colleagues, and so on....

If it was judged a bit more fairer and cutest baby stood a chance of winning then I would be entering my baby in this, but on this occasion I don't feel the need to buy my daughter the winning place!”

“Firstly, I do not have a baby or toddler to enter this competition..I was amazed last year to see one lady buy 50 copies of one edition of the paper just for the coupons.....good way to sell papers but very unfair on those that can't afford to bulk buy ...”
