Singing group aiming to help cancer sufferers
PATIENTS and those affected by cancer are being invited to join local choir leader and songwriter Helen Yeomans at the fortnightly South Devon Can-Sing Group which begins today at Sharpham House on the outskirts of Totnes.
Helen will be teaching simple and uplifting songs for people of all levels of ability and experience, so everyone is welcome.
She said: "There has been so much in the press lately about the health benefits of singing together.
"This group will bring together people affected by cancer — patients, carers, friends and family — to increase well-being and reduce the isolation which some may feel. We intend to have a lot of fun."

After clocking up more than 400 shows in the last three years, Rue Royale will continue to build their grass-roots following as they tour their most recent album Guide To An Escape, playing many of their biggest venues and festivals yet across Europe.
The Totnes gig is the latest to be organised under the umbrella of the Black Bird Collective.
Louise on tour
LOUISE Jordan (right) brings her Spring Tour to the Blue Walnut Café in Chelston, Torquay, on Saturday night.
The acoustic singer, composer and musician is showcasing her critically acclaimed album Florilegium which Radio Two's Mike Harding described as 'absolutely, totally and completely, brilliant'.
Since releasing her award winning debut album TEMPVS in October 2011, Louise has completed three UK tours, winning support across the country with a stream of exceptional reviews and some national radio play to boot.
Credited as writer, engineer and producer, Louise also sings and plays guitar, piano and cello on Florilegium, which is a Latin word meaning anthology.
