Soaring climate change message
COLOURFUL kites soared high over Goodrington's Youngs Park as youngsters joined a climate change protest.
More than a dozen gathered as part of a campaign to urge world leaders to take fast and effective action on global warming.
The kite-flying was organised by campaign group 350.org which coordinated hundreds of events across the world on Saturday.
Organisers say Goodrington's contribution was small but effective.
"There's no doubt now that the citizens of Torbay want to see real action from the world on global warming before the problem gets any worse," said Claire Collis, who is a member of the UK Youth Climate Coalition.
There was also a banner-making event at Paignton Zoo on Sunday to highlight the same global campaign.

“you cannot back out of an oil reliant based humanity government once it has begun. These people should note we're in till it's over. IF you want an pollution free world then you have to live like cavemen. ANy inteligent person wil realize the use of fosil fuels is going to increase & increase untill the end of time and oil is not going to run out, thats just what they want you to think. it will take millions of years before oil runs out”

“they are to dumb enough to realize the plastic on those kites comes from crude oil and there plastic trainers. What amazes me about all these protesters is they are all reliant on crude oil yet they claim to be outside of it. nobody can claim to be qa do gooder. Personally i like the fact we have giant caravans with wings that fly through the air at 600mph GS or more for going on holiday. I bet not one of them walked to youngspark and all parked there car. THey make me laugh. WHen you look at the size of the sun is inevitable that there are going to be some variations in tempreture. But these kind of people just really just look so stupid. IF they were really science geeks then they would also talk about global cooling. SOunds like a scam to attract tourists at paignton zoo and if they were really for real they would also point out that keeping animals in cages is against nature and also uses crude oil to transport them and all the plastic containers. All of these climate campaigners acitivities will require a large dumpster which is also made from oil”

“These type of people always puzzle me. What do they think those kites come from and how they were made. There kites have attributed to so-called global warming. I bet all of them drive cars & go on holiday each year also. THe clothes they were use crude oil. there is no scientific evidence that global warming or climate chage is due to using fossil fuels”
