South Devon charity cashes in from awards night

TOURISM stars of South Devon have helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

A total of £1,560 was raised at the Herald Express English Riviera and South Devon Tourism and Hospitality Awards last month.

The money, which was raised during a charity raffle on the awards night, has been handed over to Hannahs at Seale Hayne.

The charity, which along with its base in Newton Abbot and another in Ivybridge, provides learning, care, support and choices to children and adults with a range of disabilities.

Hannahs was the chosen charity of choice for the event as well as being a sponsor of the Tourism Event of the Year category in the awards.

Herald Express sales director Michelle Pugh said: "The Herald Express is very pleased to support Hannahs as our charity of choice for the Tourism Awards 2012.

"Hannahs is such a fantastic facility, one which benefits so many people of all ages, they have a great team who achieve so much. We were pleased to raise the profile of the charity and also fund raise through our raffle. Thanks also go to all those companies who supported the raffle with prize donations."

Hannahs fundraising manager, Hannah Hunter, said: "We were delighted to have been such a big part of the South Devon Tourism Awards.

"It was a pleasure to be lined up with such an inspiring group of local enterprises, businesses and attractions. We owe a huge debt of thanks to the Herald Express and everyone who was there on the night for supporting Hannahs and raising such a fantastic amount."
