A SOUTH Devon design company will create corporate branding for a Hong Kong-based eco-investment firm after landing their first overseas client.

Formoda, a graphic design and web development company based in Berry Pomeroy, has been contracted to work with Touchwood, a forestry investment company with 10 offices worldwide.

The contract involves creating a uniform brand across the firm's regional offices, which will then be applied to stationery and a new website.

Formoda will also develop a 'corporate style guide' for the firm to ensure the branding remains consistent.

The multinational contacted Formoda after seeing their design work on another eco-investment company.

Simon Dolley, who co-founded Formoda three years ago, said it was the first overseas-based deal the firm had landed.

"We've got quite a few big clients, but this is something quite special," he said.

"We have got clients who also work overseas, but this is the first company completely based overseas."

Simon said it was satisfying to land a major contract on the quality of work already produced.

"We did the branding for an eco-investment firm in this country, and it was picked up by Touchwood," he continued.

"They said 'we need to do something like that', and asked our client who did it — it was purely based on what they had seen."

He added: "Most of our work is based on recommendations."

Formoda was formed by three creative experts, including Simon, who had all previously worked in the same agency.

A series of re-branding contracts enabled the firm to take on extra staff, and they moved to Berry Pomeroy on November last year.

Simon said the digital age made it possible to work with companies anywhere in the world.

He said: "This shows the global nature of our industry and how it is possible for a graphic design agency in South Devon to work with clients anywhere in the world.

"We have clients all over the UK and we have worked with organisations in many different countries but to work with such a large organisation in the Far East is really a coup for us."

Touchwood's marketing executive, Coran Maloney, said "We first became aware of Formoda through a mutual client of ours in the UK.

"We noticed how everything from this company was professionally designed and followed the corporate branding exactly and we decided Formoda could help us to do the same."
