South Devon premiere accompanied by WI-style sale of jams and pickles
THE South Devon amateur premiere of Calendar Girls will open in Torquay on Thursday, October 11.
The Shiphay Amateur Dramatic Society show will also be helping to raise money to care for ill people in the area.
The play, by Tim Firth, is based on the Miramax film of Calendar Girls.
It follows a group of WI members who are spurred on to raise money after friend Annie's husband John dies of leukaemia.

She and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room and manage to persuade fellow WI members to pose with them for an 'alternative' calendar.
The show takes place at St John's Church Hall, Cadewell Lane, Shiphay, and will run until Saturday, October 13. Doors open at 7pm, curtain goes up at 7.30pm.
Barney Tuck, from SADS, said: "Amateur groups have a one year window to stage this play. We are proud to host the South Devon premiere.
"In addition, we have invited donations of jam, pickle and the like.
"We will be selling this produce at each show, and all proceeds will be donated to Rowcroft Hospice."
