South Hams Big Night Out is a storming success
A BEACH event at South Milton Sands organised by South Devon AONB and the National Trust attracted 500 people.
Activities on offer included rock pooling, bird watching, stand-up paddle boarding, a treasure hunt and lantern making.
There was a stunning sunset which unveiled a sky full of stars perfect for the dark skies star gazing event led by Mike Cooke.
Nicky Bailey on behalf of the AONB said: "The event attracted so many families keen to enjoy the last warm day of summer and learn more about the fantastic landscape of the AONB.

"The clear sky was perfect for pointing out the stars and underlining the need to protect our dark skies from light pollution. Many thanks to all the organisations who got involved.”
Visitor Fiona Beckman said on Facebook “Thanks for a super event at South Milton Sands this weekend. We loved it all, but the campfire stories and lanterns were the biggest hit with the kids.”
