Spring tipple proof that good things do come out of Exeter, as well as the A38
REGULAR readers will recall that last week the Beerio tasting panel was split on the subject of the best beer at a recent pub festival.
The majority voted in favour of Summerskills Guzz Ale, a fine, rich beer with a long-lasting flavour and a charity commitment to the Royal Navy which makes it hard to turn down.

This columnist duly recorded the victory for the Plymouth brewery in last week's column.
Beerio himself, however, was much taken with a more delicate beer.
Being a football supporter and a follower of Torquay United, Beerio often finds it hard to muster enthusiasm for things connected to Exeter.
However, an exception must be made for Lighterman, a refreshing session beer from the Exeter Brewery which, being based in Exminster, is far enough to this side of the city to prevent Beerio from breaking out in a cold football-related sweat.
It is a gentle, 3.6 per cent strength, amber-coloured bitter with roasted malt flavour and a subtle and moreish finish.
It is one of those beers that says 'sunshine' and 'spring' from the first taste, and being of modest strength, it can remain a companion throughout a most convivial evening.
Those who may not yet have sampled Lighterman should feel free to make acquaintance with the brewery's other local favourites, Avocet Ale and Ferryman.
It just goes to show that good things do come out of Exeter, apart from the A38.
