Store's water aid campaign for Africa

NEWTON Abbot Asda supermarket has donated 1,000 bottles of water to charity.

It is raising money to provide biosand water filters to families in Africa to enable them to drink safe water.

It is part of Samaritan's Purse International's Turn on the Tap project.

Volunteers are distributing the 1,000 water bottles donated by Asda to people in Moretonhampstead. The aim is to turn the donated water bottle into a change saving pot, to raise money for Turn on the Tap.

At the end of the month the bottles will be collected and all the money raised will go towards providing families with biosand water filters. Jane Entwistle, community life champion at Asda, said: "We think it is a brilliant donation and with the money raised will help a lot of people in the third world countries maintain better drinking water."
