More than 150 awards of merits, bronze, silver and gold medals and some best in class were awarded at the huge competition, with South Devon College students winning 68 of them.
College students Oliver Williamson, 19, from Torquay, and Jay Thompson, 17, from Paignton, also won the Major live chicken class, and now go through to the grand final at Hotel Olympia in London.
This is the third time in a row both the national places were secured by South Devon College students.
The national competition is open to junior and senior chefs of varying skill levels and takes place throughout the year around the country.
Oliver and Jay will compete in the final for an opportunity to win £500 and get free membership into the Craft Guild of Chefs.
"We are delighted to have hosted the South West heat of the Major series and all the judges and participants, particularly our own students, who have been working so hard to prepare their entries," said Dave Galpin, section head for catering, hospitality and tourism at South Devon College.
"It's a real privilege to host the 10th anniversary competition and it's a fantastic experience for our learners to have their work judged by professionals."
