HIGH achievers at a Torquay school were rewarded for their efforts.

St Cuthbert Mayne School recently celebrated the work of students at their annual celebration of achievements evening.

Guest of honour was Rev Michael Macey, minor canon of Westminster Abbey and former St Cuthbert Mayne student.

He inspired guests, parents and students with his address and presented youngsters with their awards.

More than 200 students were recognised. As well as awards for every subject area, there were prizes for leadership, overcoming adversity and service to others, both in and out of school.

A spokesman for St Cuthbert Mayne said: "The audience of parents and staff were extremely proud of the award winning students."
