RISING star Josie Newton is among the young people showcasing their talent at Dartington.

The Torquay teenager is a talented young singer/song-writer from South West Music School.

Students from the school will be performing on Sunday in the Great Hall.

Seventeen-year-old Josie is on the advanced training programme for gifted and talented young musicians provided by the virtual school.

She started to learn the guitar at 12 and wrote her own songs.

Josie is inspired by all types of music including rock, pop, folk and r'n'b.

Director Lisa Tregale said: "Josie has exceptional natural talent and an immense amount of potential."
