TV adventurer Monty makes splash at regatta
TV biologist and adventurer Monty Hall got a dunking when he was the star guest at Kingswear Regatta.
Dartmouth-based Monty, who is also a volunteer with the Dart RNLI inshore lifeboat crew, took part in the race between colleagues at the life-saving charity and members of the regatta committee — only to be hauled up on top of a dunk bucket with members of public bidding to see him get wet.
Chris Ryan, a former chairman of the Kingswear Regatta committee said the event, in its seventh year, had been well attended.
He said: "There were quite a few people who wanted to see Monty dunked. He had just taken part in the rowing with the RNLI team and then got on top of the duck tank.

"He played along and I think quite a lot of money was raised.
"It was the best Saturday attendance we have had. It was a very good regatta."
The two-day event will again see between £2,000 and £3,000 raised for charities including the Dart RNLI inshore lifeboat.
Mr Ryan added: "The Sunday saw about 200 attend. Considering Kingswear only has about 500 residents, it was really good attendance.
"It was very much a children's day and they took part in rowing races too. It was very good."
Stalls, food stands, a tae kwon do and fencing demonstrations, Punch and Judy, a dog show, town criers and vintage cars all helped add to the atmosphere.
